Decided to clean up some electronics since the laptop fan was clearly crying for help. Sometimes a lil\u2019 dustin is enough. Fans get noisier when insides of the device reach a certain temperature which causes them to spin faster. And of course when there is too much dust inside the machine insides get heated up faster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Animal friends, bad air ventilation, construction dust and many other things that are fine enough to reach the insides of your electronics might shorten the lifespan of your device. Cleaning the filters regularly is a good maintenance practice. A circuit can get fried when covered in dust and dirt. Basic warranty doesn\u2019t cover if you try prying your electronics open for a cleanup. But if your device is out-of-warranty you might aswell practise prying plastics and see if your electronics get a little bit more usage time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I need new tools<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I used to repair electronics at work. Nowadays I just fix and open my own devices so I haven’t invested on a good equipment. I certainly should since my tools are cheap and shitty. And some things are missing – like spudgers – but I\u2019ll manage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I should have some mercy on myself and buy the smallest iFixit kit with just the screwdriver and heads. iFixit Mako 64 Bit Driver Kit is a quality set – I used to have one of those at work. I do not think the iFixit prying tools offer more value to the set. That’s why I\u2019m going to order some spudgers online where I can get the cheapest offer. If I would have the iFixit prying tool set I would use just one of the prying tools anyways. So might aswell order a bag of prying tools in addition to a new screwdriver set.<\/p>\n\n\n

For a person that hasn\u2019t been disassembling a lot of electronics but wants to fix their stuff themselves I think having plastic prying tools is a MUST! A chisel driver damages plastics easily. Another smart thign to do before you open a device you’re not famiar yet is to lookup if you can find material from the internet that tells you how the device is assembled.

Bought an Air Duster from Temu :\u2019D<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I wanted to save money and ordered that duster in the image for 21,78 eur. Not sure how to feel about it. I mean it\u2019s not that bad but it hasn\u2019t got a tip that is small enough to concentrate the airflow to tiny enough spaces in my opinion. Maybe I could innovate something just for chuckles. Taking the the straw from an empty can of compressed air that I was supposed to replace with the air duster I bought.. Yeah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well \u2013 I think I got the most of dust out of devices with the new duster. I just had to pry the dirt from smallest spaces with long, thin and bending objects manually. Zip Ties for the rescue! Not ideal way to go about it though.
