Herman’s Amazing haircolor

Trimmed my hair a bit and mixed up 2 different Herman’s Amazing haircolors. The shades are called Roxy Beet and Ruby Red. This cherry-like end result is my summer vibe for this year!

Inspired by The butterfly cut

First I wanted to do a little re-shaping for the hair. I wanted to keep as much length as I could and focus more on fixing the face-framing section of the hair. I’ve been growing out a fringe for a while and I had bangs for a long time before that. I’m not a hairdresser so I looked up some videos and found this Brad Mondo tutorial to aid:

I do not blow dry my hair every time before leaving the house but the cut I ended up with still makes my hair look a little more pronounced than it was before I did anything to fix it.

About Herman’s Amazing brand

Herman’s amazin haircolors are conditioner-based direct haircolors. They are vegan and cruelty free without harsh chemicals, such as ammonia or hydrogen peroxide. They are advertised to be mixable with each other.

I have used this haircolor brand previously and it doesn’t trigger my psoriatic symptoms. In my experience it requires longer time to affect on hair if the hair hasn’t been bleached properly or if done on virgin hair. And the color is of course brighter if the hair is bleached before application.

Re-bleaching just isn’t the vibe for me this time since I have some underlying bleach damage on ends. I’m not mentally ready to let them go yet. So I wanted to be gentle for my hair and don’t really mind the color being a bit darker anyways. I think I look better with deeper, darker tones anyways. My hair is naturally ashy brown. Previous color I had on was the Herman’s Amazing Coco Choco which was pretty much was a classic, neutral chocolate brown.

Result and the mess

I will not show you an image of the mess my bathroom was in after the hairdye but I tell you pre-cautions might be in order. The color seems to get everywere but the basic dishwashing liquid helps to clean most of the surfaces. If the color sticks on a spot where it doesn’t want to come off easily I’ll grab a Magic Sponge. Magic sponge is a really handy thing on difficult stains but the downside is that it might sand off a surface that isn’t plastic, tiles or coated in some way.

I really like the color – and cherries! Mixability is one of the most fun things about haircolors for me. I’ve been trying multiple combinations of different tones during the years and I used to have something like this with a permanent color that I was able to do my best shadow-root application so far. With this direc color there really is no point of going over this since the color is going to face faster but I’m aware of it and happy with managing conditioner-based color for a while without bleach. It’s certainly a choice!
