Drawing and watching stand up

Been thinking a lot about life and feeling my 30-something crisis. Thinking I should practice art more and about ways to make a light of shitty things in life again. I really wondered after stressing out some nonsense that have I lost my sense of humour. Could I train my humoristic muscles? How? I decided to get some inspiration from watching some stand up comedy and getting drunk with pen and paper!

There are multiple different formats for humour and I’m going to explore those. Reading is also a great way to get new thoughts about how other people perceive the world. Started with a paperback and am reading through another one this summer! I’m so happy about actually reading again. I haven’t read pretty much anything else than school material in few years. After the paperbacks I’m moving into actual books that have been on my reading list for the longest time.

Sidenote: I though the way this stand up engineer, Don McMillan utilised PowerPoint was really smart and matched well the humour!

Drawing and having a laugh

Finding one’s own voice requires exploration and experimentation. And sometimes a little bit of courage to get out there. At the moment I’m getting back to drawing while learning to make light of ridiculous life expectations. Getting some new perspective.

I used to draw, paint and make digital art more often. Then I started studying while working and slowly I gave up on my hobbies. Now I’m in my final year of studies and have my internships sorted. It’s like looking for missing pieces of yourself you forgot you had. I think drawing and watching stand up is a good starting point! 😀

Do you like stand up? Feel free to tell about your favourite comedians down in the comments!
